Frequently Asked Questions

Our practitioners assess, diagnose and treat a variety of musculoskeletal injuries and conditions. We look at how the whole body is functioning and use a wide range of treatment techniques including hands on manual therapy, joint manipulation and exercise prescription to get you moving and feeling your best.

Treatments are evidence based, meaning that we refer to the most up to date research when formulating a management plan to ensure that you will achieve the most optimal results!

How many appointments until I feel better?

The number of appointments it will take will vary from person to person. Generally speaking, you can expect your pain to decrease within 1-2 times. To achieve long lasting results it commonly takes around 4-5 sessions before you are able to address the real underlying causes and make a change!

Are treatments safe?

Both Physiotherapists and Osteopaths undergo rigorous training (a 3 year undergraduate degree and 1.5-2 year masters) to ensure they are capable of providing safe and effective care in the community. Training covers an extensive amount of anatomy, physiology and pathology so that practitioners can assess, diagnose and treat safely. Practitioners learn about red flags and know exactly when a patient should be referred on to a GP or specialist and have strong connections that allow effective co-management.

Do I need a referral to see a Physio or an Osteo?

No. Phsyiotherapists and Osteopaths are primary healthcare practitioners. This means that you are able to book an appointment without a referral from your doctor. However, your practitioners may still contact your doctor or any other relevant healthcare practitioners to ensure you are receiving appropriate care.

Do you offer HICAPS on the spot claiming for private healthcare/Medicare rebates?

Yes. We offer HICAPS claiming on the spot through MediPass and our virtual eftpos terminal. Please ensure that you have your private health care card with you to claim. Alternatively, an invoice can be printed for you to claim at a later date.

HICAPS supports most health funds. Head to http://www.hicaps.com.au for more information.

Do you accept Chronic Disease Management (CDM) plans? Previously known as Enhanced Primary Care (EPC) plans?

Yes. Please ensure that you email a copy of your CDM plan to info@dghealth.com.au prior to your appointment. Alternatively, you can bring in a hard copy of your plan to your appointment.

Do you accept Workcover claims?

Yes. We accept all Work Cover claims. Please ensure that you bring in all relevant paperwork including your claim number so that there is no delay in your care.

Please also note that DG Health is located upstairs, and there are no lift amenities.

What can I expect on my first vist?

Your initial consultation will consist of a thorough: medical history taking, physical assessment, treatment & exercise prescription as deemed necessary.

How long are appointments?

Initial consultations are 45 minutes. Return consultations are 30 minutes.

What do I bring?

Please bring any relevant paperwork/scan results/referrals relating to your injury with you to your initial visit.

How many visits will I need?

Every individual and injury is unique. At DG Health we endeavour to get you back to doing what you love as quickly as possible. The number of sessions required will depend on how quickly your body recovers from treatment and rehabilitation.
