PHYSIOTHERAPY

What is physiotherapy?

Physiotherapy is a healthcare profession that can be the key to unlocking a world of pain-free movement and improved physical function. At its core, physiotherapy is all about optimizing your physical health and wellbeing through a combination of prescribed exercise, hands-on treatment, and patient education.

As movement specialists, our physiotherapists are experts in assessing and treating a wide range of conditions, including many common causes of pain, that impact the musculoskeletal, neurological, and cardiovascular systems. We work closely with our patients to identify the root cause of their discomfort and develop personalised management plans that help them achieve lasting relief and improved performance.

What are the benefits of physiotherapy for pain?

If you’re dealing with acute or chronic pain, physiotherapy offers a comprehensive approach to managing and alleviating discomfort. Our in-person treatments and management plans focus on reducing pain by relieving tension and promoting strength.

We also work to identify and address the underlying causes of your pain, helping to prevent further issues and reduce the risk of recurrence. Beyond just managing pain, physiotherapy is a drug-free treatment that can enhance your posture, flexibility, and range of motion, which can improve your overall function and performance in daily activities and sports.

Choosing physiotherapy is a proactive way to take control of your health and well-being. By collaborating with a professional who understands the complexities of the human body, you can optimise your physical function and achieve better overall health.

Who is physiotherapy suitable for?

Physiotherapy is suitable for almost anyone who is experiencing pain, regardless of age or physical ability. Whether you have a chronic condition that has been bothering you for years, or you have recently developed acute pain due to an injury, our skilled pracitioners can work with you to develop a personalised management plan that meets your unique needs.

Physiotherapy can be particularly helpful for those who are looking to avoid surgery or medications for their pain. By focusing on natural, non-invasive techniques like exercise and hands-on therapy, physiotherapy can provide an effective alternative to more invasive treatments.

What types of pain can physiotherapy help with?

The practitioners at DG Health can help with a wide range of conditions that could be resulting in acute or chronic pain. The most common causes of pain that physiotherapy can help with are:

 Acute injuries
 Sciatica and Sciatic Pain
 Post-surgical Injuries
 Pinched Nerves
 Sports Injuries
 Osteoarthritis
 Muscle strains and tears
 Chronic pain

Do you accept private health insurance?

Yes we use HICAPS, which allows for instant claims processing of health insurance claims. This mean that you receive your health insurance benefit on the day of your treatment, rather than being out of pocket until your insurer assesses your claim.

Will physiotherapy work for my specific condition?

Physiotherapy uses a combination of hands on treatment, prescribed exercises and patient education to help get to the root cause of your pain. The vast majority of cases can be treated in clinic. For those that need the help of a specialist phyisician, we can also refer you to the medical professional that is just right for you.

My pain is really bad - do I need surgery or medication instead?

In most cases the drawbacks (pain, recovery time, invasivness and cost) outweigh the benefits of surgery, and for many, this is a last resort. Physiotherapy is a drug-free, non-invasive, natural way of addressing the root cause of your pain.

How long do treatments take?

Initial appointments are 45 minutes, and return treatments are just 30, so we can have back to your day in no-time 😁

How much do treatments cost?

Initial treatments are $119 and return treatments are $99. Click here for more information on our fees and what they include.

Are treatments painful?

Physiotherapy treatments are generally not painful. They are designed to alleviate pain, not cause it.

What's involved in a treatment and how does the process work?

A physiotherapy treatment typically involves a combination of manual therapy, exercise prescription, and education on self-management techniques. The specific techniques used depend on your condition and goals. Our practitioners will:

  • Conduct an assessment
  • Create a personalized management plan, and;
  • Work with you to achieve your desired outcomes in an agreed upon timeframe
